Cycle Show 2011 Coverage
After appearing at the Cycle Show, Road Cycling UK wrote the following about the Paulus Quiros Design Stainless Steel 953 Tourer:
Perhaps the highlight of this year’s Cycle Show was a stunningly realised retro-styled touring cycle from Carmarthenshire-based handbuilt specialists Paulus Quiros. Built using polished stainless steel lugs, the frame is silver-brazed with Reynolds 953 tubing throughout including the 953 fork blades that complete the specification.
The lugwork is exquisite, with fine details such as the hanger for the rear cantilever brake cable set off by polished aluminium mudguards and the natural tan shades of the Brooks saddle and leather handlebar tape. The transmission is Campagnolo’s Comp triple with a 13-29 cassette while the pedals are an interesting CNC-machined replica of an old Lyotard platform design.
Perhaps the only detail we might quibble is the fitment of a threadless handlebar stem. Quill stems may be inferior in performance and increasingly hard to find, but using one would surely add to the aesthetic appeal of this delightful machine.
Riderific also said this about Paulus Quiros in their Cycle Show roundup:
... there was only one stand where I loved every single bike - Paulus Quiros Design. Bespoke craftsmanship of the highest possible level and some of the most innovative and stylish designs on display. They went down a storm at the Bristol handmade show and I sincerely hope they get all the attention they deserve from the Cycle Show audience.
Road.cc wrote a Tech Roundup following the Cycle Show and wrote this about Paulus Quiros:
We first met bike builders Paulus Quiros at Bespoked, Bristol earlier in the year but Mr Paulus and Mr Quiros don't appear to be limiting their ambition to the world of exotic custom frame makers; the stand is not as large as Condor's but it appears to have squeezed into it lots of exquisite little details. Plenty of them were on display in a new dropped-top-tube frame showing off the swooping lines that are shaping up to be a PQ trademark...
